Parent Information

Term 1:

Our topic focus in term 1 is getting to know each other. As part of this we will be looking at the Treaty of Waitangi and the making of agreements. We will be establishing a class Treaty which is the agreement we will make to keep each other safe and happy in the classroom.

Maths:

Some parents have been asking for ways in which they can support their children mathematical development.  At this stage of their learning the fundamentals are most important. Students need to know their numbers to 100 and then to 1000. They need to be able to quickly say what the number before and after any number to 100 is. Basic facts requires students to be able to quickly know addition facts to 20 without needing to work it out e.g. what is 6+4 ? What is 10 + 7 ? and then be able to double and halve numbers e.g. what is double 6? what is half of 14? 5 minutes spent each night looking at one or two of these can make a big difference to development in the classroom and the securing of knowledge.
