Maths:

Please encourage students mathematical literacy by talking about number problems at home. All students need to be secure on knowing the number before and after any number up to 100.
Basic facts knowledge could include knowing what combinations of numbers add up to 10 and then 20 and then doubles and halves up to 20. As the term progresses students will be learning to skip count in 2's 5's and 10's.

Spelling Testing:

Starting in Week 3 each student will have 5 spelling words for homework to learn each week. Testing will take place on a Friday and students will then be given their words to learn for the following week.

Reading Covers:

Students should be taking home their reading covers each day. If your child does not have a new reading book for the day encourage them to re read one of the other books in their reading cover. Reading books remain in their covers for the week and are emptied out each Monday morning. Studies have shown the benefits of re reading texts familiar to students to build confidence and expression.

Library Day:

Is each Tuesday. The students are allowed to have 2 books out at any one time. New issues cannot happen until the existing books are returned. As with the reading covers we need the students to have a library cover to transport their books. It would be best if books taken home on a Tuesday were returned the following Monday ready for library day.
